City of Montgomery set to debut new city flag (wsfa.com) — Montgomery is about to raise a brand-new city flag, and residents are invited to the official installation ceremony Oct. 1 at City Hall on North Perry Street. The design, chosen through a public contest emphasizing unity and shared values, replaces the 1952 banner and marks a symbolic fresh chapter for the city.

The statewide list compares tuition, admissions, and outcomes across campuses, helping Montgomery families weigh AUM against other major options like Auburn, Alabama, and UAB.
   

3. Legacy firefighter makes history as the first black female officer in Montgomery (wsfa.com) — A Montgomery firefighter has become the department's first Black female lieutenant, marking a historic promotion in a field where no woman had advanced in more than two decades. Serving in her hometown, she hopes her achievement encourages local girls and women to pursue careers in fire service and other male-dominated professions.
   

4. Alabama settles multi-million dollar lawsuit against TikTok (waka.com) — Alabama officials in Montgomery have secured a first-of-its-kind, multi-million dollar settlement requiring TikTok to add strict protections for children, including time limits and stronger parental controls. The deal could bring up to $300 million to the state and follows other recent actions targeting social media and online platforms to better safeguard young users.
   

5. Alabama State pulls away late to defeat Mississippi Valley State 41-15 (wsfa.com) — Alabama State, playing in Montgomery, used early defensive takeaways and big second-half plays to pull away from Mississippi Valley State in a 41-15 win. Quarterback Aaron Frye accounted for multiple touchdowns, while DJ Hicks' 98-yard kickoff return and Jareese Howard's late scoring run helped the Hornets seal a convincing home victory.
