• Spartans earn area win in front of large in-school crowd (villagelivingonline.com) — Mountain Brook High School's volleyball team just swept Homewood 3-0 in front of what coaches say was the biggest home crowd yet, strengthening their bid to host the area tournament. The Spartans, now 25-5, ride an 8-0 week into home matches against Hoover on Thursday and Northridge on Sept. 29, with hopes of sustaining momentum toward the state tournament.
   

• Authorities Continue Search Efforts for Missing Elmore County Man (abc3340.com) — Mountain Brook residents should know their fire department has deployed a specialized team to help search for missing Wetumpka man William Austin Mathews in Elmore County. Three Mountain Brook firefighters joined crews from nearby cities to provide extra manpower and resources, while authorities continue asking anyone with information to contact the Elmore County Sheriff's Office or CrimeStoppers.
