Budget For New Fiscal Year Approved By Mountain Brook BOE
The Mountain Brook Board of Education expects a $14.5 million balance by the end of the 2019 fiscal year.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - As the current fiscal year comes to a close for the Mountain Brook school system, the school board approved its 2019 fiscal year budgets this week. The estimated the ending fund balance for FY19 is expected to be around $14.5 million.
A report by Village Living said the projected ending fund balance for FY18 is $14.8 million, but that does not reflect other grants and funding the school system has recently received or will receive in the upcoming weeks and some projects that were budgeted for the year but won’t be done until this fall.
Approximately $500,000 is also budgeted in the capital projects funds for work within the facilities as well as the 2.5 percent state-mandated raises as well as the increases for the step raises for those who are eligible. Personnel costs represent 83 percent of the general fund. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)
