Former Mountain Brook BOE Member Named Interim Director At ASFA
Ann Florie, who served on the Mountain Brook Board of Education for 10 years, will take over as interim director at ASFA.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Anyone who has lived in Birmingham long enough has likely heard Ann Florie's name, as she has been a prominent figure in the Birmingham area on multiple levels. Now, Florie again will lead a local organization - albeit temporarily - as the Alabama School of Fine Arts interim director.
Florie replaces longtime director Michael Meeks, who retired last year. Florie previously served as the executive director of Leadership Birmingham for 14 years, was the founding executive director of Region 2020, and served on the Mountain Brook Board of Education for 10 years.
She currently serves on the Birmingham Business Alliance’s Executive Committee, the Alabama Humanities Foundation Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and is a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club where she previously served as president. She was recently inducted into the Alabama Academy of Honor.

"We are so grateful to Ann for stepping into this role as the ASFA Board of Directors searches for a permanent executive director. She brings decades of professional and volunteer experience in both the public and private sector that will be an asset to ASFA,” said board chair Deborah Huff.
Th ASFA board said it hopes to have a permanent director in place at the beginning of the 2020 school year.
