Mountain Brook BOE Announces Teacher Of The Year Nominees

Principals, staff and student at all six Mountain Brook Schools elect a teacher of the year, who will be considered for the statewide award.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - The Mountain Brook Board of Education announced the Teachers of the Year for each of the system's six schools. The teachers were nominated by their principal, faculty, staff and students, and were announced at this week's board meeting.

The nominees are:

  • Brookwood Forest: Tracy Cole, sixth grade English
  • Cherokee Bend: Samantha Austin, third grade
  • Crestline Elementary: Tara Davis, third grade
  • Mountain Brook Elementary: Mitchell Nelson, kindergarten
  • Mountain Brook Junior High: Pam Pugh, English
  • Mountain Brook High School: Jane Major, English

These teachers will go on to the state competition for Alabama Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year, and from there, have the possibility of being named National Teacher of the Year.
