New Brookwood Forest Playground Construction Under Way

A new $350,000 playground at Brookwood Forest Elementary School is expected to be completed by August 1.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - Construction has begun on Brookwood Forest Elementary's new playground project, which is expected to be completed by August 1.

Spearheaded by the Brookwood Forest PTO, the project, dubbed Ranger Park, will be built within the existing playground’s footprint, adjacent to the nearby community soccer fields, according to a press release presented at a Mountain Brook City Council meeting in March.

The new park will include expanded sports courts, sensory and music play, a mini amphitheater, a rain garden, a multipurpose pavilion and climbing structures, among other features. The estimated total cost of the project is $350,000.

The soccer fields at BWF have been used by Mountain Brook Athletics for decades for games and practices for youth sports - including soccer, softball and baseball - and the playground had not been upgraded in years. Similar projects have been completed at Mountain Brook Elementary and Crestline in recent years.
