Spartans Capture Back-To-Back State Titles
Mountain Brook downed McGill-Toolen to win it's second straight state championship.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - From the moment Mountain Brook stepped on the court in Saturday's state basketball final against McGill-Toolen, it was apparent that the Spartans were the superior team.
Mountain Brook built an early lead on the strength of tough defense and the sharp shooting of Sean Elmore, who ended up draining five three-pointers in the game, as the Spartans downed McGill-Toolen 73-49 to win it's second straight state championship, and it's fourth overall.
The Spartans led by 21 points at the half, and dominated the game in the same fashion they have dominated the entire season. Trendon Watford, considered by many to be the state's best player, finished the game with 23 points and 12 rebounds. He was named the tournament MVP.
