Today's riddle: What do you call a belt that is made of watches? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Former Prichard officers accused of luring Atlanta attorney for… (1819news.com) — Prichard residents should know that an Atlanta attorney and his driver have filed a federal lawsuit accusing former and current Prichard police officers, plus the city, of violating their civil rights during a 2025 drug arrest that prosecutors later dropped. The suit alleges drugs were planted, cites body-camera footage reviewed by the Mobile County DA, and claims negligent hiring by the city, while the former officer remains presumed innocent.
2. Contractor pleads guilty to fraudulent billing scheme against Prichard water board (fox10tv.com) — Residents of Prichard should know that a contractor tied to the Prichard Water Works and Sewer Board has pleaded guilty in federal court to a multi-year scheme that siphoned more than $700,000 through fake invoices. He conspired with the board's former operations manager and others, most of whom have already pleaded guilty, with one remaining defendant still facing charges.
3. Mobile's mayor takes a ride on first of what he hopes are many trolley buses (fox10tv.com) — Mobile's mayor is testing a trolley-style bus as part of a broader overhaul of the city's transit system, and community leaders are watching closely how new microtransit routes will affect riders in the Prichard area. Local NAACP leaders say they're in wait-and-see mode, worried that people on the outskirts, including Prichard residents, might lose convenient, reliable service.
4. Judge rules against state Rep. Bracy in discrimination suit against Austal (fox10tv.com) — Prichard residents' state representative, Napoleon Bracy, has lost his federal lawsuit accusing Mobile shipbuilder Austal USA of racial discrimination and retaliation after his 2024 firing. A judge ruled the evidence did not support his claims, including his argument that the company's stated reason—misuse of its timekeeping system for legislative duties—was a pretext for racial bias.
