At the same meeting, leaders celebrated a perfect state bus inspection score and honored four Trussville students selected for prestigious Boys State and Girls State leadership programs.
2. Eight Alabama public high schools rank among top 5% nationally (thealabamabaptist.org) — Hewitt-Trussville High School just ranked among the top 5% of public high schools nationwide, climbing to No. 679 in the U.S. News list and No. 5 in Alabama. The statewide rankings highlight how Trussville City Schools stack up against other top-performing districts and show Alabama improving overall in national standing.
3. 23 weekend events: Birmingham Legion, jazz festival + more (Aug. 20-23, 2026) (bhamnow.com) — This weekend's roundup includes a free adult book fair Sunday in the Trussville Entertainment District at Ferus Artisan Ales, featuring local authors and indie booksellers. Trussville residents can also explore dozens of nearby Birmingham‑area festivals, fundraisers, sports matchups and family activities running from Thursday through Sunday, plus several ongoing exhibits and attractions.
4. Trussville man charged in fatal Mountain Brook crash (cbs42.com) — A 26‑year‑old Trussville man has been charged with two counts of reckless manslaughter and one count of first‑degree assault after a July 25 crash in Mountain Brook that killed two people and injured others. Warrants were issued August 17, and investigators have turned the case over to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office while additional details remain limited.
