• Local health experts to go door to door and survey Birmingham area (wvtm13.com) — Jefferson County health workers will be going door to door in Trussville and nearby communities September 30 through October 1 to ask adults about local health needs and health department services. Staff will wear JCDH uniforms and photo IDs, and participation is voluntary, but your 25–30 minute survey responses will help shape future programs serving Trussville residents.
   

• These are Alabama's largest elementary schools (al.com) — Paine Elementary in Trussville again ranks as Alabama's largest elementary school, now serving about 1,320 students and still growing. Trussville City Schools expects 1,000 to 1,200 more students over the next decade and is planning a new elementary school as statewide enrollment shifts and some districts lose students.
   

• Rep. Garrett to introduce bill eliminating grocery tax in Alabama (trussvilletribune.com) — State Rep. Danny Garrett of Trussville is preparing a bill for the next legislative session that would eliminate Alabama's remaining 2% state grocery tax. He says the plan is to budget so education funding is protected without raising other taxes, and to block local governments from adding new grocery taxes to replace the state levy.
