15-Year-Old Girl Identified As Victim In Fatal Tuscaloosa Crash Following Police Pursuit

ALEA says a 15-year-old female passenger was killed early Friday morning after a high-speed chase with police in Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a 15-year-old female passenger was killed and the 19-year-old driver injured early Friday morning after a high-speed chase with police ended in a single-vehicle crash on 25th Avenue North East

ALEA, in an update Friday night following the fatal collision, said the teen was fatally injured when the 2000 Ford Taurus driven by Kevonta O. Hayward-Jackson, 19, of Tuscaloosa, left the roadway and struck several trees.

As Patch previously reported, Hayward-Jackson was attempting to elude a Tuscaloosa Police officer at the time of the crash after the officer attempted to make a traffic stop.

The juvenile female died at the scene and has not been publicly identified by law enforcement as of the publication of this story.

ALEA also said Hayward-Jackson suffered unspecified injuries and was transported to a DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment. It was not revealed what charges he could be facing.

The cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by ALEA.
