The Alabama State Parks system is gearing up to host a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. on April 17 at the park, which is located at 13226 Lake Lurleen Road in Coker.

The event will highlight extensive improvements made throughout the park, including 67 upgraded campsites, a new beach area, playground, entrance, camp store, bathhouses and pavilions.

Infrastructure upgrades to water and sewer lines were also completed as part of the project.

The renovations were funded through a portion of the $85 million bond issue approved by Alabama voters in 2022, aimed at modernizing and enhancing state park facilities.

Scheduled speakers for the event include Chris Blankenship, commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and State Rep. Ron Bolton (R-Northport), along with other community and civic leaders.
