Henry defeated opponent Doug Parrish in a two-man race to fill the unexpired term of former Councilor Norman Crow, who resigned after being elected to the Alabama House of Representatives.

Unofficial totals including absentee ballots show Henry received 1,318 votes or roughly 74%, compared to Parrish's 473 votes.

The latest totals showed that turnout for District 3, with its precinct at the Church of the Highlands, coming out at approximately 14%.

District 3 covers much of north Tuscaloosa, including areas north of the Black Warrior River.

Henry has spent nearly two decades working in property management and local development.

He owns Right Space — a commercial real estate firm — and has been involved in several community and business initiatives across the city.

Henry told Patch he is grateful for the support from the people of District 3 and said the community has given so much to him and his family.

"I don’t take the trust you’ve placed in me lightly," he said. "Thank you to everyone who voted, supported this campaign, and encouraged me along the way. I’m honored by the opportunity to serve and ready to get to work."

Henry is expected to be sworn in at next Tuesday's City Council meeting.

“It’s my honor to welcome Councilor‑Elect Henry to the Tuscaloosa City Council," Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox told Patch. "Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with Mr. Henry through the Mayor’s Business Advisory Council, and I have consistently appreciated his business expertise and his steady, common‑sense approach.”
