The Tuscaloosa Police Department confirms that Jeffrey S. Raymond, 56, of Centereach, New York, has been charged with harassment in connection with the case, which involves his daughter.

As Patch previously reported, University of Alabama student Ryan Jeffery DellaFranco, 20, was charged with domestic violence earlier this week after an incident involving a 19-year-old woman.

Raymond, the young woman's father and a police officer in New York state, turned himself in Wednesday and was released on a $500 bond.

In the original case, DellaFranco was charged with third-degree domestic violence following the incident, which police said occurred at two separate residences. Investigators previously obtained a warrant after interviewing both parties and a witness.

While few specifics have been released, TPD said that on Monday, after the dispute was reported but before his arrest, DellaFranco contacted police to report that a family member of the woman — Raymond — had come to his home and made threats to harm him.

Officers responded and spoke with both men, but no arrests were made in that incident at the time.

In the wake of the initial report, video began circulating on social media showing hundreds of young people gathered around a residence as police entered.

TPD’s Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate both incidents, and additional charges against DellaFranco are possible.

The West Alabama INTERCEPT Task Force is also assisting in the investigation related to the domestic dispute case.

This is a developing story. Tuscaloosa Patch will have more information as it becomes available.
