A family member of Karen Deann Hollis told Patch her body was found after authorities also told Patch a homicide investigation began on Interstate 20/59 near the 54-55 mile markers around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

As Patch previously reported on May 9, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) issued a missing persons alert Friday for Hollis, who was last seen around midnight on May 8 in the area of 43rd Avenue in Northport.

The circumstances around her disappearance and death remain unclear at this time.

This is a developing story. Tuscaloosa Patch will have more information as it becomes available.
