As Patch previously reported, a family member of Karen Deann Hollis told Patch her body was found after authorities also told Patch a homicide investigation began on Interstate 20/59 near the 54-55 mile markers around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

She was first reported missing on May 8 in the area of 43rd Avenue in Northport.and early investigative findings led authorities to suspect foul play.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said investigators executed multiple search warrants and gathered a great deal of physical, witness, and electronic information.

Kennedy said a person of interest was identified last week, though Hollis had still not been located.

He confirmed that on Saturday afternoon, family members and friends searching an area identified through electronic evidence discovered Hollis’ remains in Greene County.

Randall Lendell Dejourne has since been charged with abuse of a corpse and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond.

Investigators said additional charges could follow pending the outcome of an autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Kennedy said the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County District Attorney’s Office and Greene County Coroner’s Office assisted in the recovery operation.
