The Grammy Award-winning band will perform at Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 12.
Formed in Athens, Alabama, Alabama Shakes spent its early years playing clubs, bars and small venues across the Southeast, including shows in Tuscaloosa that helped shape the band’s rise.
The band has also maintained strong ties to Tuscaloosa’s music community, including longtime local music supporter Bo Hicks, owner of Druid City Brewing Company.
In 2024, the band reunited for a surprise performance in Tuscaloosa, when lead singer Brittany Howard told the crowd, “If we’re gonna get back together it’s gonna be in Tuscaloosa and it’s gonna be for Bo Hicks.”
Ahead of the June 12 concert at the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater, local businesses will host a series of “Alabama Shakes Homecoming” events and promotions around the city.
Events will include:
The festivities will culminate with a pre-show party hosted by Druid City Brewing Company from 4-6 p.m. on June 12.
The event will feature a set by Alabama Shakes’ recent tour opener and local favorite Caleb Elliott, along with free food, specialty drinks and a canned food drive hosted by Table of Grace.
