ALDOT announced that nighttime resurfacing work on Skyland Boulevard, also known as U.S. Highway 11, will resume Monday, June 8, between McFarland Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Drive.

In addition to repaving the roadway, the project includes lengthening left-turn lanes and making intersection improvements at Hargrove Road, Palisades Drive and Cypress Creek Avenue.

The work follows the completion of an earlier phase that resurfaced Skyland Boulevard between Alabama Highway 69 and McFarland Boulevard.

Construction is expected to continue through fall 2026, weather permitting.

To minimize traffic disruptions, ALDOT said lane closures will not be permitted between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Lane closures also will be prohibited on Saturdays when the University of Alabama hosts home football games.

The project was awarded to APAC-Alabama at a cost of approximately $6.89 million.

ALDOT says drivers should expect possible delays and are encouraged to use caution in work zones and obey posted speed limits.
