The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said Samuel L. Jackson, 64, was fatally injured at about 7:01 a.m. when the 2023 Toyota 4Runner he was driving left Alabama Highway 22, struck a guardrail and a bridge, then caught fire.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA said Jackson’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, where his identity was later confirmed.

The crash occurred near the 17 mile marker in Dallas County, roughly a mile west of Selma.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
