Moundville Woman, Alleged Accomplice In Custody After Using Forged Court Docs To Escape Jail

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Hale County Sheriff's Office says a Moundville woman accused of using forged court documents to escape from jail has been taken into custody along with an alleged accomplice.

HCSO officials announced Thursday that Ellory Kate Johnson, 32, and another woman were arrested following an investigation into forged court records that authorities say were used to help Johnson get out of jail.

Patch previously reported that Johnson had her bond revoked in a Tuscaloosa County case where she received probation after being convicted of practicing medicine without a license.

After her bond was revoked in Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court, she was transported to Hale County to face additional charges and, with the alleged help of Debra Alexander Nichols, was released from the Hale County Jail after presenting court documents that stated her prior offenses had been expunged.

Formal charges against the alleged accomplice have not been released at this time.

Authorities have also not disclosed additional details about where the pair were located or whether more arrests are expected.
