The organization said the decision was made after consulting with the National Weather Service and closely monitoring weather forecasts that indicated the potential for severe thunderstorms and lightning in the area.

"Due to the threat of potential severe weather, including the possibility of heavy thunderstorms and a high likelihood of lightning, we believe it is in the best interest of our participants, volunteers, vendors and community members to err on the side of caution," the organization said in a statement.

Organizers said all activities planned for the day will be rescheduled, with updated dates and times to be announced at a later date.
