The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. Monday on Crescent Ridge Road Northeast near 9th Street Northeast in Holt.

Troopers said the 2013 Nissan Maxima left the roadway, struck a guy wire, became airborne and overturned.

Passengers George L. Porter III, 19, and Latayia Necole Furr Prewitt, 22, both of Tuscaloosa, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a native of Bessemer, was injured and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
