The City of Tuscaloosa, in coordination with Alabama Southern Railroad, will close the Hackberry Lane railroad crossing near the Sam Bailey Track & Field Stadium from Monday, July 20, through Wednesday, July 22 while crews complete repairs and upgrades.

During the project, Hackberry Lane will be closed at the railroad crossing.

The University of Alabama will also close Coliseum Street behind Sam Bailey Track & Field Stadium for the duration of the work.

UA Safety says a signed detour will be in place.

Drivers are encouraged to use the Second Avenue overpass or 10th Avenue as alternate routes to avoid the closure.

Officials are asking motorists to plan ahead and allow extra travel time if their normal route includes the Hackberry Lane railroad crossing.

The roadway is expected to reopen once repairs are complete on July 22.
