TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Station Sandwiches & Pizza has closed its doors after a little more than a year in business.

The restaurant's owners — local firefighters Josh Julian, Derrick Riddle and Gary House — announced the decision over the weekend in a message thanking customers for their support.
In a social media post shared Sunday, the restaurant said it made "a run at it," but was ultimately unable to keep the business open.
The restaurant's final day of operation at its Hargrove Road location was Friday, July 24.
The owners expressed gratitude to the restaurant's loyal customers and thanked them for supporting the business throughout its journey.
The message also offered encouragement to other local restaurant owners, noting the hard work that often takes place behind the scenes to keep businesses running.
The announcement concluded with a call for the community to continue supporting locally owned businesses.
"Shop local. Eat local. Support local. Thank you again for the support."
