TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College is inviting pickleball players to take part in the inaugural "Hoops & Paddles" Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 22, with proceeds benefiting the Shelton State men's basketball program.

The tournament will be held at Bowers Park, 1600 James I. Harrison Jr. Parkway in Tuscaloosa, and will feature beginner, intermediate, senior (50 years and older) and advanced/open divisions. Cash prizes will be awarded to champions in the advanced/open division.
Registration costs $50 per individual player or $100 per two-person team for the beginner, intermediate and senior divisions.
Players competing in the advanced/open division can register for $100 individually or $200 per team.
In addition to tournament play, organizers say the event will feature food trucks and inflatable games.
All proceeds from the event will be directed to the Shelton State Community College Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, in support of the Shelton State men's basketball program.
