WEST BLOCTON, AL — A Shelby County man was killed Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash near West Blocton.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said 28-year-old Brett M. Whitley, of Maylene, was driving a 2010 Toyota Tundra at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, when the vehicle left the roadway, struck several trees and overturned.
ALEA went on to say Whitley was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
He was pronounced dead at the scene on Bibb County Road 24, roughly two miles east of West Blocton in Bibb County.
No additional information was immediately available Sunday afternoon.
