VANCE, AL — Mercedes-Benz U.S. International (MBUSI) suspended production for the remainder of a shift Thursday after a team member experienced what the company described as a serious personal medical emergency.

MBUSI said the medical emergency was unrelated to work.
Officials also said company paramedics responded and provided initial medical assistance before the team member was transported to a hospital.
"Given the severity of the situation and out of respect for the team, we suspended production for the remainder of the shift," MBUSI said in a statement. "Our Team Members' emotional and physical safety and well-being is our highest priority."
No additional information regarding the team member's condition was immediately available.
