Community Rallies After Northside High Principal Loses Home In Fire

Northside Principal Jeremy Madden was at the Rams' home game against Winfield High School Friday night when he received a call informing him that his house was on fire.

The school said that Madden left the field and rushed home, where he discovered the family had lost everything in the blaze.

Fortunately, no members of Madden's family were home when the fire occurred and everyone was reported safe.

Madden told Patch that another blessing amid the tragedy occurred when he first arrived at his home and couldn't find his dog, Kai.

"I rushed in and started yelling for him and he ran out of the rubble and was found and is safe," he said.

Northside officials said the family will now begin the process of rebuilding their lives following the loss.

"Going to Northside means more than just being in a school building; it means being a part of a family, and family helps each other, reaching out when it's needed most," Northside High School said in a statement.

The school asked members of the community to keep Madden and his family in their thoughts and prayers while officials determine ways the community can provide assistance.

"In the coming days, we will find ways to support them more tangibly, and we will be sure to let the community know how they can help," the school said.
