The free Halloween event is set for 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Tuscaloosa Gateway Innovation and Discovery Center.
The city says Tech or Treat combines a traditional trunk-or-treat-style Halloween event with hands-on activities focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math, commonly known as STEAM.
Organizers explained that families and children will move from table to table collecting candy while participating in STEAM activities facilitated by city departments and participating community organizations.
Booth registration is now open online, with participating organizations asked to provide candy along with a STEAM-related activity for children.
The event is free and open to all ages, and families are encouraged to attend in costume.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
