The 29-year-old former Tide standout was arrested Sept. 3 in Harris County and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to reporting from Ahmed Humble of the Houston Chronicle.
The Chronicle reported that the confrontation stemmed from a vehicle detailing job and a misplaced key to Davis' Ford F-350.
The owner of the mobile detailing business told investigators that an employee accidentally left Davis' key in a company work van after detailing the former Crimson Tide standout's truck.
The business owner initially arranged for the key to be returned, but Davis later contacted him asking about its whereabouts.
The owner then hired a locksmith to make a replacement key, according to the report.
The business owner and locksmith arrived at Davis' residence on Aug. 30, but the locksmith reportedly had trouble programming the replacement key fob.
Court records cited in the original report allege Davis then charged at the business owner, struck him in the chest, forced him against a fence and pushed him to the ground.
The man accused Davis of choking him while he was on the ground.
Davis then allegedly asked someone inside the residence to bring him a gun before pointing the handgun at both the locksmith and the business owner.
The business owner told investigators he was eventually able to throw Davis off of him.
A Harris County magistrate subsequently found probable cause for Davis' arrest and temporarily denied bail pending a preliminary hearing.
Davis' attorney, Vivian King, has denied the allegations and said witnesses to the incident were not interviewed by police.
King also said police searched Davis' residence after his arrest but did not seize anything from the home.
"These allegations are false and appear to be motivated by money," King said in a statement cited in the original report.
During his time in Tuscaloosa, the 6-foot-7 defensive lineman emerged as one of the Crimson Tide's top defensive players during Alabama's run to the 2017 College Football Playoff national championship.
Over this stretch, Davis recorded 8.5 sacks during his sophomore season and was part of the Alabama team that defeated Georgia 26-23 in overtime in the national championship game in Atlanta.
Over four seasons with the Crimson Tide, Davis appeared in 48 games and finished with 175 tackles.
The Miami Dolphins selected Davis in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and he spent four seasons with Miami before joining the Indianapolis Colts for the 2024 season.
Davis appeared in 80 NFL games, making 48 starts and recording 144 tackles.
He has not played in the league since 2024.
