The notice, signed by the Starbucks Coffee Company, informed customers that the company made the decision this week to close the location.
An employee confirmed the news to Tuscaloosa Patch when contacted at the 15th Street location and said Saturday, Sept. 26, will be its last day of operations.
"We know this may be hard to hear—because this isn't just any store, it's your coffeehouse, a place woven into your daily rhythm, where memories were made and meaningful connections with our partners grew," the company said in the notice.
Starbucks did not provide a specific reason for the closure in the message but the news comes as the company announced plans to close 250 North American stores this week, according to reporting from the Associated Press.
The company also addressed the future of employees at the 15th Street location.
"Many of you will be thinking of your favorite barista," the notice reads. "Please know that we're working closely to support our partners through this transition."
Customers were directed to other nearby Starbucks locations and encouraged to use the company's mobile app to find another café.
"Our commitment to creating welcoming, memorable experiences remains unchanged," the company said. "We hope you'll visit us at a nearby Starbucks where we'd be honored to continue bringing joy and coffee to your day."
The 15th Street closure marks the loss of a Starbucks location along one of Tuscaloosa's busiest commercial corridors.
The notice did not say whether the closure is permanent beyond describing the decision as one to "close this Starbucks location," nor did it provide details about what will happen to the property.
"Thank you for being part of our story," the company said. "We look forward to seeing you again soon."
