TUSCALOOSA, AL — A West Blocton man wanted on a felony sodomy charge in Jefferson County was arrested Saturday in Starkville, Mississippi, and is awaiting extradition.

The Starkville Police Department said officers arrested Stephen Shirley, 41, over the weekend and charged him with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
SPD said Shirley initially refused to identify himself when approached by officers.
However, during the investigation, officers determined Shirley was a registered sex offender and discovered he was wanted in Alabama on a charge of second-degree sodomy out of Jefferson County.
Shirley is being held in the Oktibbeha County Jail pending extradition to Alabama.
