The Maxwell Football Club announced the honor Tuesday morning after Griffin came off the bench to lead Alabama with nine tackles in Starkville.
The freshman from Gainesville, Georgia recorded six solo tackles, a quarterback hurry and a sack for a 5-yard loss.
His performance helped Alabama's defense finish with a season-high five sacks in the win.
The weekly honor is Griffin's first from the Shaun Alexander Award this season and the second for an Alabama player.
As Patch previously reported, the recognition comes one day after Griffin was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week for his performance against Mississippi State.
