The city announced Tuesday that the market received the most votes in Alabama in the 2026 America's Farmers Market Celebration Awards, an annual nationwide competition organized by the American Farmland Trust and Farmers Market Coalition.
The contest allows farmers market shoppers and supporters across the country to vote online for their favorite local markets.
"I'm incredibly proud of our vendors and River Market staff, who work tirelessly to keep our market thriving throughout the year," Tuscaloosa River Market Operations Manager Alexis Clark said.
Clark said the farmers market welcomes nearly 3,000 residents each week during its peak season and offers a wide range of products from local vendors.
"Thank you to our community for choosing us as the best market in Alabama for the past five years," Clark said. "Your support means everything."
The Tuscaloosa Farmers Market is held year-round on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon at the Tuscaloosa River Market, 1900 Jack Warner Parkway.
The market is free and open to the public.
