Keaton issued a call for prospective players this week, setting a goal of having 50 football student-athletes enrolled at Stillman for the spring 2027 semester.

Keaton encouraged prospective players interested in being part of the revived program to complete Stillman's Prospective Athlete form or contact the football program by email at football@stillman.edu.

As Patch previously reported, this comes just days after Stillman College named Keaton its new athletic director and head football coach, putting the former Tigers coach in charge of rebuilding a program that has not competed since the 2015 season.

Stillman plans to return to competition in fall 2027.

Keaton previously served as Stillman's head coach from 2011-15, compiling a 27-26 record over five seasons.

His first Tigers team finished 7-4 and earned a share of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division championship.

The Stillman alumnus brings 25 seasons of college and professional football experience to the rebuilding effort and an 80-61-1 career record as a head coach.

He also helped launch the football program at Allen University in 2018 before guiding the school through its transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II.

More recently, Keaton took over a Clark Atlanta program coming off an 0-10 season and led the Panthers to a 7-3-1 record and an appearance in the SIAC Championship Game in his first season.

Stillman currently competes in the NAIA and is a member of the HBCU Athletic Conference, which does not sponsor football.

The Tigers are expected to compete as an independent when the program returns.
