The Tuscaloosa Police Department (TPD) told Patch that officers received a call shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from a Bryce Hospital employee reporting that the 31-year-old patient had left a medical office on Ruby Tyler Parkway during an appointment.
Officers with TPD, the University of Alabama Police Department and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office joined Bryce Hospital personnel in searching the surrounding area.
TPD said a Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office K-9 team eventually located the missing man in a wooded area near the on-ramp connecting University Boulevard and McFarland Boulevard.
The patient was subsequently returned to the care of Bryce Hospital personnel.
