The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) identified the victim as Carina V. Perez, 19, who was a passenger in a 2008 Chevrolet Express van that collided head-on with a 2005 Ram 2500 pickup driven by a man from McCalla.
Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup and the driver of the Chevrolet van, also a Brent resident, were both injured in the crash and transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.
The crash occurred at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, on Alabama Highway 216 near the 24 mile marker, about two miles west of Lake View.
As Patch previously reported, the collision prompted authorities to close both lanes of Highway 216 Thursday evening while emergency personnel responded and troopers investigated.
ALEA has not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the collision or what may have caused it.
Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
