Sewell pointed out that the funding will help establish a joint public safety building for the two departments, providing a shared facility for first responders serving the Pickens County community.
"This investment will strengthen public safety and support the first responders who serve and protect the Aliceville community," she said.
Sewell, a Democrat who represents Alabama's 7th Congressional District, has advocated for federal investments in infrastructure and public services throughout West Alabama.
As Patch previously reported, Sewell this week also announced a $250,000 donation to help fund improvements at the Tuscaloosa Public Library.
The announcement on Thursday did not specify the total estimated cost of the project, a construction timeline or when the new facility is expected to open.
