The Saban Center says the $251,939.59 from the Alabama STEM Council of the Alabama Department of Workforce will support new educational programming, curriculum development, professional development and staffing at the Tuscaloosa facility.

"The Alabama STEM Council has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of young people across our state," Saban Center Executive Director Audrey Buck said. "We are incredibly grateful for this investment and look forward to seeing the impact it will have on generations to come in Tuscaloosa."

The Saban Center said the funding will help staff attend conferences and workshops to incorporate new teaching methods and best practices into educational programs.

The investment will also provide hands-on learning materials, support outreach efforts to reach more students and families, and fund the development of new STEM curricula and educational experiences.

Additionally, the center said a portion of the funding will support personnel responsible for delivering STEM programming, including related supplies and travel expenses.

The Saban Center is one of three state-designated STEM hubs in Alabama, joining the McWane Science Center in Birmingham and the Cook Museum of Natural Science in Decatur.

The center is expected to open in in the spring of 2028.
