Millport Man Killed Sunday In Two-Vehicle Crash In Tuscaloosa

ALEA says a Millport man was pronounced dead at the scene after the scooter he was drive was hit by a small SUV in Tuscaloosa Sunday night.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Millport man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Sunday night on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to the crash just after 9 p.m. and identified the victim as Jody B. Jonson, 53.

ALEA says the 2004 Yamaha XC 125 Jonson was operating — a type of scooter — was struck by a 2007 Ford Edge driven by a woman from Coker. Jonson was reportedly not wearing helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal crash occurred near the 75 mile marker, inside the city limits of Tuscaloosa.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
