Northport Police Investigating Fatal Crash On McFarland Boulevard
An unidentified man is dead and a Pickens County man hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in the early morning hours Saturday.

NORTHPORT, AL — An unidentified man is dead and a Pickens County man hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in the early morning hours Saturday on McFarland Boulevard in Northport.

Northport Police Department Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said at 12:19 a traffic accident was reported near the 41-mile marker of McFarland Boulevard in the westbound lanes.

Carpenter said a 2013 Kia Soul, driven by an unidentified male, collided head-on with a 2020 Toyota Camry driven by a 22-year-old man from Gordo.
"Both subjects were transported to the hospital and the unidentified male was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival," he said, before saying the man from Gordo suffered serious injuries but is reportedly in stable condition. "The preliminary investigation indicates that the 2013 Kia Soul, driven by the unidentified male, was traveling east in the westbound lanes of McFarland Boulevard, when it collided with the 2020 Toyota Camry traveling west in the westbound lanes of McFarland Boulevard."

The cause of the crash remains under investigations, in addition to the identity of the man killed.
