TUSCALOOSA, AL — One person is in custody after an alleged burglary and stabbing in Tuscaloosa County, near Moundville.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media Friday morning that Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputies and Violent Crimes Unit investigators responded to Greymont Boulevard on the initial call.

Kennedy said one victim was stabbed several times by an intruder but the injuries were not life-threatening.

He then said the suspect fled the area on foot as deputies responded, but was located after an emergency alert was sent to cell phones in the area after police first responded to the call.

Kennedy explained that the incident appears to be domestically related and the investigation remains ongoing.
