A deputy/paramedic was first on the scene and attempted to render aid to the victim — Jaylin Reed, 22 — who was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Kennedy then said after an investigation throughout the day on Tuesday, 20-year-old Tywann Long, was arrested and charged with murder as the first suspect in the case.

Following the shooting, Kennedy said the motive was believed to be related to the sale and/or possession of illegal narcotics and said additional arrests were possible prior to Rubin being taken into custody.

Those with any information about the fatal shooting are asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690.
