Suspect In Custody After Fatal Shooting At Northport Wendy's

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says a suspect is in custody following a shooting at Wendy's in Northport Tuesday evening.

NORTHPORT, AL — A suspect has been taken into custody following a fatal shooting at Wendy's on McFarland Boulevard in Northport.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit confirmed the news to local media in the hours following a chaotic and deadly series of events that saw two active crimes scenes set up within the city limits. The suspect has not been identified at this time, nor has the victim, as the investigations remain just a few hours in.

As Patch previously reported, the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit confirmed that at least two separate shootings occurred in the city Tuesday evening, resulting in one death thus far and "several injuries."

The other active scene was on Field Crest Drive, which was an emotional one that saw Northport Police cordon off the back end of the apartment complex on the street.

It remains unclear if the shootings are related and exactly how many victims resulted from the violence, which also comes after two shooting deaths since Friday on the other side of the river in Tuscaloosa's West End.
