Suspect In Custody After Fatal Weekend Shooting In Aliceville
A suspect has been arrested in connection to the murder of an Aliceville man over the weekend in Pickens County.

ALICEVILLE, AL — A suspect has been arrested in connection to the murder of an Aliceville man over the weekend at an apartment complex in Pickens County.

24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Andy Hamlin announced on Tuesday that Markevion Rice, 21, was taken into custody Monday morning. He is charged with murder following the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Kenny Ray Brown, Jr. at the Tilley Hamlet Apartment Complex in Aliceville.

Hamlin said a second person was shot during the altercation and is still being treated for injuries.
Aliceville Police officers first responded to the call of shots fired at the apartment complex, which is located off Alabama Highway 14. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rice is being held in the Pickens County Jail, where his bond is set at $2 million.
“Our priority now is to ensure justice is served for Mr. Brown and his family,” Hamlin said. “We
remain committed to a thorough investigation, and appreciate the work of Aliceville PD and Pickens County Sheriff’s Office who worked to make this arrest.”
Hamlin went on to say that the investigation is ongoing and could result in additional charges.
