TPD Reports Rash Of Overnight Vehicle Break-Ins Across City
Investigators are looking into a string of overnight vehicle break-ins at different apartment complexes across Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department is looking into a string of overnight vehicle break-ins at different apartment complexes across the city.

TPD reported as of Wednesday afternoon that it had received calls of at least four break-ins in the parking deck of a complex in the 2300 block of Jack Warner Parkway. Six more were reported in the 400 block of 16th Street East and 17th Street East.

Eight reports alone were made at apartments in the 100 block of Rice Mine Road North.
"In most of these cases, offenders broke the windows of vehicles to gain entry," TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor said. "This is unusual because unlocked vehicles are usually targeted. Investigators believe the break-ins occurred during the early morning hours Wednesday."

TPD is asking residents of the impacted areas who have home surveillance cameras to review footage between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. for any suspicious activity that could assist with the investigations.
