• Vestavia Hills and Mountain Brook open $1 million firefighter training facility (wvtm13.com) — Vestavia Hills firefighters now have access to a new $1 million training facility, jointly opened with Mountain Brook, to sharpen their skills for everything from house fires to large commercial blazes. Located on East Street in Mountain Brook, the site supports multi-agency training that should improve emergency coordination and response for Vestavia Hills residents.
• Vestavia Hills open houses September 19-20 (vestaviavoice.com) — House hunters in Vestavia Hills have a high-end open house to explore this Sunday, Sept. 20, on Kenmore Place, featuring over 7,000 square feet and six baths. Several additional open houses in Hoover and Birmingham the same afternoon give local buyers more options across a range of prices and neighborhoods.
• APT board to survey Alabamians on APTV programming (alreporter.com) — A Vestavia Hills resident was among those sharply criticizing a new statewide survey on Alabama Public Television programming, questioning how political bias is framed. The APT board narrowly approved spending nearly $40,000 on the poll, which will question 600 Alabamians and could influence whether APT keeps its PBS affiliation. Results are expected by early October, with another board meeting set for September 29.
