His family and friends, including a former Anchorage firefighter colleague, have seen nearly $90,000 raised to help them and to support Mason's passion for mountain biking and helmet safety.

Anchorage police investigate downtown officer-involved shooting (alaskasnewssource.com) β Anchorage police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on East Ninth Avenue downtown, between the Delaney Park Strip and Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery near Denali Montessori School. APD plans to release more details at a 6 p.m. press conference, and this incident follows another recent officer-involved shooting in northeast Anchorage, heightening concern about police encounters in the city.

WATCH: Moose Mom and Calves Race Past Trail Cam in Alaska (outdoors.com subscription) β A trail camera in the Muldoon area near Anchorage captured a moose and her two calves sprinting past, apparently fleeing an unseen threat. The video, shared to a local wildlife Facebook group, has residents speculating whether a bear, wolves, or people with dogs were chasing the trio.
