1. 'Icon in the community': Dimond Skateland owners to retire and Anchorage rink up for sale (alaskasnewssource.com) — Dimond Skateland, the longtime Anchorage roller rink many locals grew up visiting, is up for sale as its owners retire after decades in business. The Caldwells hope a buyer keeps it a skating rink, noting it's currently the only roller rink in Alaska and a beloved spot for school events, birthday parties, and family gatherings.

Anchorage narrows midtown street to fewer lanes for winter snow storage pilot (alaskasnewssource.com) — Drivers in midtown Anchorage will see Denali Street reduced from four lanes to two this winter as the city tests using the outer lanes for snow storage instead of costly hauling. Officials say the pilot, running between Tudor and Northern Lights, could speed plowing and improve pedestrian safety, while residents are already voicing concerns about congestion and visibility.
3. The Rewind: West High tennis claims 9th straight region title, UAA volleyball sweeps UAF (adn.com) — West Anchorage High tennis just secured its ninth straight Region IV title at The Alaska Club East, while several Anchorage high school teams and UAA squads turned in standout performances. Looking ahead, Anchorage fans can catch state tennis championships at Alaska Club East and the Wolverines' home-opening hockey series at Sullivan Arena this weekend.

5. Anchorage, AK, Sees August Graupel, Tying 1997 Snowfall Record (snowbrains.com) — Anchorage quietly tied its August snowfall record this year when a brief burst of graupel fell at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport on August 31, officially logged as a trace of snow. While the month's overall temperatures were near normal, the chilly finish and rare frozen precipitation nudged the city's climate record without bringing any real accumulation.
