  1. Anchorage Wolverines are raising money for one of their player's families as they seek refuge from war in Ukraine. Bohdan Panasenko, whose home country of Ukraine has forced his mother and brother to flee to the Czech Republic, while his father fights against the Russian invasion, has had hockey as a distraction during this time. His team has stepped up to support him and his loved ones overseas. (Alaska's News Source)
  2. A police officer was shot during a standoff near downtown Anchorage on Friday morning. According to police, the suspect remained barricaded, and the officer is expected to survive his injuries. (Anchorage Daily News)
  3. Gas prices have leveled out this week above the $4.00 mark. Anchorage's current price sits at $4.67, with Alaska's average at $4.72. (Kilgore News Herald)

  • This week, a London native who livestreams events from airports all over the world is visiting Anchorage to share his love for aviation with people from all walks of life. Jerry Dyer wanted to introduce his followers to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, which he deems is unlike any other airport in the world. (Alaska's News Source)
  • In partnership with the American Cancer Society, GCI and Alaska Airlines will donate one million air miles annually for three years to Alaskan cancer patients traveling for treatment. (Alaska's News Source)
  • Jasmin Smith, Anchorage mom and owner and founder of BabyVend, said as a Black woman, there are more hurdles in winning the confidence of investors as a business owner. She shared more about her story in a podcast episode released on Mar. 17. (KTOO)
